Marianthi Makri-Tsilipakou, MA in Theoretical Linguistics, Reading UK, Ph.D. in Sociolinguistics/Pragmatics (Agreement/disagreement: Affiliative vs. disaffiliative display in cross-sex conversations), Aristotle University, has extensively studied the sociolinguistics of the Modern Greek language in relation to Greek society and culture. Her work comprises ethomethodological/ethnographic studies of culture-specific practices, with an emphasis on highlighting current discrimination and detecting on-going or possible changes, and a special interest in the investigation of gender construction in everyday interaction.
