Ôhis module introduces students to key research and literature on women, gender, sexuality, identity and feminism in relation to translation. Students are exposed to a variety of texts that enables them to engage in a discussion of core theories, concepts and topics related to gender-conscious approaches to translation and to the role translation can play in the circulation of texts. Students are invited to explore the work of contemporary women writers and the translation of their texts, including fiction, LGBTQ+ literature and feminist (translation) theory. They will have the opportunity to critically analyse existing translations of writers and to do gender-conscious translations of selected passages from the texts under study.
