Title: PhD positions in Linguistics

The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and the University of Verona have activated a joint PhD program in Linguistics for the academic year 2026/27. They have issued a call for 4 fully funded PhD positions. PhD candidates which are selected will receive a 3-year fellowship.

Successful applicants will be committed to conducting independent and original scientific research and participating in local, national, and international training activities to develop their potential. Given the multilingual environment of the program, we encourage applications from international students with a good command of English and at least one second language (Italian or German).

Applications can be uploaded from May 6th, 2026. The deadline for online applications is June 10th, 2026, at 12:00 midday, local time. Only online applications through the university application system are accepted (please do not send applications via e-mail). Information about the selection procedure can be found on the website of the PhD program in Linguistics at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.

The selection procedure involves evaluation of the candidates' CV, Master theses, their research proposal as well as an online interview. For details see the application website.

One of the fellowships is reserved for a Ph.D. project in the context of the cooperation with the University of Marburg. For details see here. Candidates interested in this fellowship must indicate their preference in the research proposal.

For information about the faculty members involved in the programme and their research areas see here.
