Dr Lucy Zhao is Associate Professor in Chinese Language & Linguistics at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, and Fellow of Newnham College, at the University of Cambridge. Her work focuses on first and second language acquisition, bilingual development of Chinese-English child and adult speakers, and heritage language speakers and their grammars. Her current work focuses on the role of lexical and syntactic complexity in Mandarin Chinese L1 and L2 development, as well as the role of literacy and the effects of parental input in heritage language grammars of Mandarin Chinese speaking children growing up in the UK.
