Dr Eleftherios Panagopoulos

Prof. Eleftherios Panagopoulos is an Emeritus Professor at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics, School of English, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He taught courses in phonetics and historical linguistics and was the director of the Phonetics Laboratory for over 20 years.

He has studied in University College London (Diploma in English Linguistic Studies) and in the University of Essex (Ph.D. in Phonetics). He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Department of English (since 1963) and in Kent State University, Ohio, as a Visiting Professor. He has participated actively in local or international seminars/congresses, in research projects, in counselling postgraduate students (Electronic Engineering and School of Music) and has published extensively in the areas of experimental phonetics and diachronic linguistics.
