The Relation of Cloze-Testing Procedure to the
Skills of EFL
Dans cette
étude, nous examinerons la relation entre les tests du
"Cloze" et les autres tests des cours assurés au Programe
d'Anglais Intensif (IEP) du Centre de la Langue Anglaise au sein de
L'Ecole Nationale d'Administration (IPA) en Arabie Saoudite.
L'objectif de notre
étude est plutôt pratique. Nos résultats et
suggestions pourraient être exploiter au sein des cours de
l'enseignement de l'Anglais Langue Etrangère. Pour ce faire, nous
avons sélectionné 432
étudiants qui représentent trois nivaux
différents. Ces derniers devaient remplir les vides du
"cloze" que nous avons limités à cinquante. Leur s scores
relatifs aux examens de grammaire, lecture, rédaction, orale et
audition ont
été aussi retenu. Une analyse statistique a
été entamée
dont les résultats sont en parfait accord avec les recherches
précédentes. Nous avons remarqué des relations pertinentes entre les
examens du "Cloze" et les autres examens des cours d'Anglais
Langue Etrangère. Nous avons aussi remarqué que, dans le cas des
étudiants avancés, la relation entre le "Cloze" et les
autres tests est plus solide.

Mental Health Consultation Apporaches in
Schools:
The Affective Dimension
Cette
étude présente les charactéristiques distinctives de la
consultation scolaire sur la santé mentale. La consultation scolaire
vise à l'amelioration de la santé mentale des
élèves en renforçant la
compréhension des enseignants vis-à-vis des facteurs, aussi bien
psychologiques que sociaux, qui influencent le comportement des
enfants. Nous insistons tout particulièrement à l'importance de la
relation entre le consultant et le consulté en tant que facteur
déterminant de l'efficacité thérapeutique et préventive du consultant.
La dimension affective de cette relation consultant-consulté est
étudiée
à travers quatre approches différentes de consultation en
santé mentale. L'accent est mis sur les réactions du consultant
concernant l'implication personelle et
émotionelle du
consulté-enseignant dans le cas où cela est exigé. Les similarités et
les différences des quatres approches sont finalement discutées et les
résultats sont commentés
par rapport à l'efficacité de la consultation
scolaire.

The size-of-constituent constraint: evidence
from Greek-French code-switching
Το φαινόμενο της εναλλαγής κωδίκων
(code-switching), πέρα από τη μελέτη του ως
επικοινωνιακής στρατηγικής, αποτελεί
αντικείμενο έρευνας και από
συντακτική άποψη. Συγκεκριμένα, έχουν
προταθεί διάφοροι "περιοριστικοί
όροι" (constraints) που υποτίθεται ότι
ρυθμίζουν τον τρόπο με τον οποίο δύο
γλωσσικά συστήματα συνδέονται είτε
στη βαθιά δομή είτε στη δομή
επιφανείας για να σχηματίσουν λέξεις,
λεκτικά σύνολα και προτάσεις (βλ. λ.χ.
Poplack, 1980). Ένας από αυτούς τους "περιοριστικούς
όρους" (''size-of-constituent' constraint, Gumperz &
Hernandez-Chavez 1975; Poplack, 1980) κάνει προβλέψεις
που αφορούν τη σχέση γλωσσικής
ικανότητας του ομιλητή στις δύο
γλώσσες και τύπου εναλλαγής κωδίκων.
Εδώ παρουσιάζονται εμπειρικά
δεδομένα από μια έρευνα της εναλλαγής
κωδίκων από γαλλόφωνους νεαρούς
Έλληνες στις Βρυξέλλες (Hatzidaki, 1994b), τα
οποία εξετάζουν την ισχύ αυτού του "περιοριστικού
όρου" για τη συγκεκριμένη γλωσσική
κοινότητα και για το ζεύγος γλωσσών
ελληνικά-γαλλικά.

This project "Semiotics and Advertisement" was undertaken
with the supervision of Prof. A.-F. Lagopoulos, in the context of a
post-graduate course in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The aim
of this paper is a semiotic analysis of 3 advertisement for
"COOPER" cigarettes that were published in the daily press
during November 1995. Production and consumation of the advertisement
were analysed. Production of the advertisement is based on the aims
of the advertising company "SINEDIA" responsible for the
"SEKAP" cigarette company and on the iconogram description.
Consumation (reception) is based on a questionnaire for the collection
of data on how the consumers "read" this advertisement. The
conclusion of this analysis is a product of comparison between the
aims of the company and the results of the questionnaire.

One of the most important decisions we have to make in teaching
a foreign language is which words and which meanings should be taught
first. The purpose of this paper is to present the criteria of
vocabulary selection and also to offer a brief report on the
literature on Basic Vocabulary and Frequency Lists, mainly in Italian
as well as other languages. Basic Vocabulary is the number of words
which refer to the most common meanings and which are substantial for
basic communication. Frequency List is a count of the total numbers of
occurrences of linguistic items in a language corpus.

interference and borrowing (meaning and uses, point of view of speaker
and hearer, necessity of interference, forms of borrowing,
discrimination between interference and borrowing). In particular,
regarding borrowing the following subjects are briefly discussed:
causes, functions and results, conditions, linguistic forms,
morphology and syntax, semantics, pragmatics, appreciation.

Λίγα μόλις χρόνια πριν από την έλευση
του 21ου αιώνα όλους μας κατέχει η
προσμονή αλλά και η αγωνία σχετικά με
τις επαγγελματικές προκλήσεις που
έχουμε να αντιμετωπίσουμε και το ρόλο
που καλούμαστε να αναλάβουμε ως
καθηγητές/τριες ξένων γλωσσών στο
σύγχρονο κόσμο της ταχύρυθμης
απόκτησης γνώσεων και της
τεχνολογικής κυριαρχίας. Στα
τελευταία τριάντα χρόνια έχουν
επιτελεσθεί σημαντικές αλλαγές στον
τομέα της διδασκαλίας και εκμάθησης
ξένων γλωσσών, οι οποίες έχουν
επηρεάσει τη νοοτροπία μας, τον τρόπο
διδασκαλίας μας και τις σχέσεις μας με
τους/τις μαθητές/τριες. Μέσα από μια
σύντομη ανασκόπηση αυτών των αλλαγών,
το άρθρο επιχειρεί να περιγράψει τον/την
καθηγητή/τρια του μέλλοντος
προσπαθώντας να καθορίσει τους νέους
στόχους και ρόλους που θα πρέπει να
υποδυθεί ανταποκρινόμενος/η στις
απαιτήσεις των καιρών και των
σύγχρονων μαθητών/τριών.

Η διδασκαλία της αγγλικής στο Τμήμα
Δημοσιογραφίας & Μ.Μ.Ε. του Α.Π.Θ.
παρουσιάζει μια ιδιαιτερότητα, επειδή
οι φοιτητές/φοιτήτριες του Τμήματος
που επιλέγουν την αγγλική ως ξένη
γλώσσα τη γνωρίζουν πολύ καλά, μια και
η ξένη γλώσσα αποτελεί μέρος των
υποχρεωτικών μαθημάτων στα οποία
διαγωνίζονται κατά τις εισαγωγικές
τους εξετάσεις. Έτσι, τα μαθήματα της
αγγλικής που προσφέρει το Τμήμα
σχεδιάστηκαν με στόχο την ανάπτυξη
της γλωσσικής συνείδησης των φοιτητών/φοιτητριών,
έτσι ώστε να γίνουν ικανοί/ικανές στο
να επιλέγουν συνειδητά το είδος της
γλώσσας που απαιτείται στις διάφορες
περιοχές άσκησης του μελλοντικού τους
επαγγέλματος. Η συγκεκριμένη εργασία,
λοιπόν, στοχεύει στο να καταδείξει την
ορθότητα του σχεδιασμού των παραπάνω
μαθημάτων. |
