Description

This course aims to provide a comprehensive survey of linguistic theory and research relating to the learning and teaching of foreign languages. In particular, it will present the insights that the linguistic research has provided on second and foreign language learning, and will discuss and analyse the significance of the research findings for the field of language teaching. Prerequisites: None Learning outcomes and competences By the end of the course participants should: •have a thorough understanding of linguistic theories and research relating to the learning and teaching of foreign languages •be aware of current research into instructed language learning and •be able to critically evaluate its implications for the field of language teaching
